This is a common problem with compact flash cameras as it takes a smal amount of time for your camera to judge the correct exposure, shutter speed, focus and other settings.
What to do?
The best way to combat this is to get all these settings sorted before you need to take the shot.. Push the camera’s shutter button halfway and it will calculate all the settings in given situation. Hold the shutter button in this position half pressed and when the moment is right, push it fully down.
Depending on your camera model there still wil be a small delay, but it will be greatly reduced. Sure, if your subject moves out of focus while you have your shutter half pressed, you’ll need to release the button and start again. Otherwise your subject will be out of focus.
