Want to give someone a personal yes inexpensive gift for the festive season? How about turning a photograph you treasure into a photo gift? There are plenty of affordable options out there these days and you can even use your photography skills to take a great photo and produce the end product as a surprise!
Examples of items you can personalise with a photograph include:
- Handbags/Shopping Bags/Wash bags. Some of these are quite expensive to print (i.e. Designed Anya Hindmarch has made photo bags for years and these are luxurious and top end costs hundreds of dollars). Some are more affordable and come if different styles depending on what you want – i.e. a grocery shopping bag or just a small handbag size. You can also get a wash bag printed.
- Cushions. Cushions are normally canvas and the photograph is printed on the surface. Once again make sure you have given them the correct dimensions so it isn’t too big or too small for the cushion. Anything to big may be cropped and anything to small may be enlarged and look bad quality.
- Mugs. Mugs are a popular and useful gift, and it’s also a safe choice when you aren’t sure what someone likes! You can get your image printed on the mug in a rectangular shape, or in patterns, or on a template or with lettering. There are also magic mugs, which are black and reveal the photo once a hot drink is put into it.
- T Shirts. Kids can look very cute in personalised t-shirts and they are also good if it’s for a special occasion. Make sue you get the right size!
- Mouse mats and Coaster. Another practical present and good for people who work in offices. You can use whatever picture you like as always.
- Stickers and Cards. These make nice little keepsake presents, kids in particular like them. Kids could put stickers of themselves, their pets and family into a diary or scrapbook for example. You can print little cards, which then can be put into a frame in a montage style that makes a change from your average photograph!
Remember to give yourself enough time when making personalised photo presents (at least 2 weeks) but double check with your printer. Towards Christmas they are usually very busy so the lead time may be longer.
