When you become a baby and pregnancy photographer, as well has having ideas and knowing how to deal with people you need to know the best way to promote your services.

Babies are being born all the time and these days many women want to document their pregnancy and child in a set of beautiful photographs.  In order for people to know that you exist and that you can do this work for them you need to advertise effectively and have lots of examples to show.  Here are some ideas on how to sell yourself.

1.    Use the internet

You must use the internet if you don’t already to show off your work.  A website showing you best photographs is the easiest way to deal with enquiries as you can direct anyone, anywhere to your work instantly.

Don’t just stop at using the internet for a website though.  Remember you can build a blog, you can upload you work to online galleries like Flickr to get your work seen.

Always keyword your photographs correctly.  Google is more likely to find your images if you keyword them – so lets say you are a baby photographer in New York, USA.  So make sure you keyword your photograph so that if someone in your area is looking for a baby photographer, you image may come up soon in Google.  You will be surprised at the ways that people will search for services on the internet!

Also use online advertising directories.  Use websites like Gumtree.com or Craigslist.com (see what directories and forums are popular in your country.)  People do browse these sites regularly to find services at a good price.  You can also do local searches for people in your area.

2.    Use leaflets and posters

New mothers and women who are pregnant are likely to use certain places for services – such as health centers, shops that sell children’s supplies and clothing and exercise groups for pregnant women.

Get leaflets ready and see if you can leave them at these venues.  Places like health centers even have notice boards so you can stick your leaflets up on the wall, so that people can get in touch with you if necessary.
